A fandom soundtrack for Babylon 5, originally made for the Fandom Soundtrack Project in 2005. Now 'remastered' and available on 8tracks.

Irony alert: the notes for this FST are almost twice as long as the longest story I have ever posted to the AO3. But hey, you try explaining all of Babylon 5 in less than 13,000 words with musical accompaniment. Especially when you've made a net addition of twenty-three tracks since the first time you did this.

I have no idea if anyone will ever read any of it, but I restrained myself from making notes like UGH, LORIEN and LONDO AND G'KAR HAVE A DRINK AND IT IS THE GREATEST THING EVER and LONDO IS SAD AND IT'S JUST AS WELL BABYLON 5 DOESN'T HAVE KARAOKE NIGHT anyway.

As am I! I sorted out and uploaded all the music at the end of January, but I quailed when I looked at the notes and what actually needed to be done and kept putting it off.

Have you heard the special version of "Red Right Hand" that Nick Cave did for Scream 3? It's got completely different lyrics, and as soon as I heard it I thought "these are terrifying apposite to the Centauri situation at the start of S4". It's the one that begins "Take a little walk to the edge of town, now spread your wings and fly".

PS: has anyone written the Angel/B5 crossover where Lorne runs a night-club on the station and the crew do karaoke there? Because that could be fun :)

Not to the best of my knowledge. Oh dear, Lorne would certainly see some interesting auras on Babylon 5. It's just as well he probably couldn't get Morden to sing for him ...

(Or Kosh. Although given that Vorlons have an Hour Of Scampering, it's always possible they also have an Hour Of Singing 'My Way'.)

I weeded out at least one instance of 'Jeffrey Sheridan', as well. Dear JMS, why did you have to give them both your initials? (I will be surprised if that's the worst typo given the hour of the night morning I finally hit post. Definitely going back for another editing sweep today. The ability to fix mistakes after posting has given me terrible habits ...)

There were a small handful of other typos, but nothing that really affected the meaning, from what I recall! And yes, it's definitely JMS' fault.

I do struggle to imagine Kosh karaokeing, but can't you just see Londo at it? a) he would love it and b) the song choice would be very interesting!

I feel as if this would end in Sinclair/Sheridan (depending on what season it was) confiscating the karaoke machine forever, but not before much fun was had ...

I warn you that you might get five separate squeaky replies, mostly because I'm already grinning from ear to ear that someone else 1) remembers there are Aqua tracks that aren't Barbie Girl and 2) there's a reason Cartoon Heroes is in a minor key. And Apollo 440!!!

And there's a Sunday Bloody Sunday cover I haven't heard!!

My friend lokisrose is a huge Aqua fan, so I'm familiar with the whole of both Aquarium and Aquarius. It was actually cremains who suggested Sigur Ros for Kosh, and it's UNCANNILY perfect. Especially since that song is about a creepy staring elf.

Lemon Jelly were unexpected, and yet, oddly perfect for where Sheridan finds himself and 'Comes The Inquisitor'.

It was one of those songs I found while sweeping through my music collection not expecting to find anything appropriate and then, bam! Perfect song. Especially since it's text by Lorne Green read by William Shatner. It's like Sheridan's antecedents produced it for him.
