Dragon Age: Origins #5 - Too Many Demons

In a move that shows that the Sloth Demon has an extremely superficial grasp on the progaonist's mind, the Sloth Demon sent Wulfric to imaginary Weishaupt to hang out with imaginary Duncan. (I mean, I imagine that someone, some time has played a Warden who actually counts this as their fondest dream. But I think it usually makes sense to assume that the Sloth Demon just doesn't have a very good grip on the protagonist, which is why they get away when their companions stay trapped. If he was reading Wulfric properly, I'd expect this to be a fantasy about becoming king of Orzammar while using Bhelen's head as a foot stool, just as I'd expect my Cousland Warden to imagine her family back alive and my Mahariel to picture himself with his clan and Tabris to be cutting Vaughan's head off over and over.)
The game really doesn't give a dwarf character nearly enough opportunity to react to the fact that they are IN THE FUCKING FADE for the first time in their lives, but Wulfric was certainly freaking out internally. Especially once he figured that he had to shift shapes to get anywhere. (I like to imagine he had a nice conversation with Shale later about how neat it was to be a golem and crush things, though. That part was fun.)
Still, he managed to survive the ordeal and rescue his companions and took comfort in murdering the fuck out of the demon that put him in the weird place and escaping back to the real world. Not that his adventures with demons were over. But at least Not!Uldred didn't make him go to the creepy not-real place. Much and all as the Sloth demon worried him, he still wasn't overly concerned about the risk of abominations or secret blood mages. That seemed like someone elses's problem, unlike having some mages to throw fireballs at the darkspawn, which was definitely his concern. So he went along with Wynne rather than Cullen and spared their lives, taking Wynne with him when he left the Tower at last.
Tomorrow: Wulfric tries his luck recruiting troops at Redcliffe and learns that nothing is ever that easy when you're an RPG protagonist.
