Deadpool 2

andrasteThis afternoon I went to see Deadpool 2! Which may not have been as surprising as the first film, but still worth watching if you liked the first one. (If you didn't: stay away, this is more of the same.)
I feel like my favourite joke should be my best beloved and the rest of the X-Men hiding from Deadpool. Not only because I almost died laughing but because it confirms my headcanon that the reason we never see them in these films is that Charles actually wants nothing to do with Wade and everyone voted poor Colossus the official Deadpool-Wrangler. (I mean, I'm sure Charles would be happy if Deadpool wanted to be a good guy somewhere over there. But the man is a walking migraine to a telepath.)
However, I really have to give the vote for best joke to Domino being invented by a guy who can't draw feet. Because this article never stops being funny. And also rage-inducing when you remember exactly how much money Liefield has made despite his complete inability to draw feet. Or much of anything else, frankly.
Speaking of which, every single moment Domino was on screen was a gift. Glad we're getting more of her in X-Force.
I was annoyed that they fridged Vanessa, but then, the credits fixed it so I can't be too upset. Especially since they also took a moment to do something about the whole X-Men timeline and the two worst moments of Ryan Reynold's career. (I mean, as explanations for the mangled timeline go, 'it's a mess because someone gave Wade Wilson a time travel device' is as sensible one as we're likely to hear.)
I am kind of sad that Shatterstar still dies. Even though his hair really is that dumb. But there still aren't enough gay mutants to go around, and I feel like the only thing that would make Rob Liefield madder than jokes about his inability to draw feet is having Shatterstar and Rictor make out on the big screen some day.
Anyway, a fun afternoon, even though I ended up wearing way too much icecream. (We went to the fancy cinema where they bring you dessert half way through the film, which is fantastic except that eating icecream in the dark while trying to watch action scenes is a test I did not pass today.)
