I didn't think they would ever make an X-Men film more tailored to my interests than First Class, but there we are.



In addition to the obvious things I am excited about - Charles and Erik working together! CHARLES AND CHARLES HAVING A CONVERSATION! - I am really pleased to see Bishop. I know this film is going to have nine million characters, but I hope he gets a good part. And hey, is that Warparth?

The Beatles broke up! Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton got divorced! Nixon got two terms! War in Vietnam! Isn't enough of an explanation for Charles' early 70s mood?:)

You make an excellent point :).

(Erik was always more of a Stones man. Charles tells himself that this should have made him realise sooner that it could never work out in the long term.)

I imagine that Nixon getting elected (twice!) tested Charles' moral resolve about mind-controlling people in Washington rather severely.

I think Charles campaigned for McGovern, and the night Nixon got reelected, he got very stoned. Hank asked whether this was a good idea; Charles said it was that or giving into temptation to mindwhammy Nixon into exposing himself to the Nation for who he is. When the Watergate scandal refused to go away, Hank was never quite sure whether Charles hadn't given into temptation after all...
