In less than twenty-four hours, I have watched seven new episodes of The Mysterious Cities of Gold. And I watched two of them twice since I found subbed versions after watching the raws. It may be a while before I get to see more, since I'm now apparently caught up with the Swiss TV broadcast and they're ahead of everyone else, but it was so worth it. IT IS MAGICAL AND GLORIOUS AND I WANT TO MAKE ANOTHER VID RIGHT NOW. More than one, actually.

Mendoza has yet to fight any dangerous animals, but he did save everyone from crashing into a mountain. And then he got hurt in a way that necessitated taking his shirt off! And Zia is soothing his fevered brow, awwwwwwwww. This is a more than adequate substitute, really. Thank you, show, for pandering specifically to me.

I think I'm going to keep watching the raws, as I'm not having as much trouble following it as I feared I would. My non-existent French is improving already.

I am LOLing at Mendoza introducing himself as 'Captain Mendoza.' Captain of what, exactly? He doesn't own a ship! Being the boss of Sancho and Pedro doesn't really count as being captain. Especially funny since one of the monks from Barcelona addresses him by that title, so apparently he's been going around telling people he's captain of ... something .... for more than a decade.

OMG! And also, OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I am grinning like a dork right now, and I've only watched the three translated episodes!

Esteban's vertigo, Mendoza's cloak, the *kids*! My inner five-year-old wants to run around the garden and play escape-the-spanish-guards-and-climb-all-the-trees. I have so much hyper for this show.

Maybe he won a ship in a dice game once, then accidentally gave it to someone in need? That sort of thing happens to him ALL THE TIME.

That is exactly the kind of thing that would happen to him, yes. I found the most wonderful cartoon on DeviantArt that expresses Mendoza's logic perfectly.

On French tv, we've only got to episode 3. But it's much better than I thought! (I had big fears, I confess)

Would French subtitles be useful to you?

I was pretty nervous, too, although I was cautiously hopeful after the trailers. I'm impressed with how they've just picked up right where Season One left off.

I don't think I can read enough French for subtitles to be useful, but thanks for offering!
