SJA: Death of the Doctor Part One
Oct. 26th, 2010 03:14 pmI feel like I should have something intelligent to say about today's episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures, but the thing I am stuck on?
LIZ SHAW IS ON THE MOON!!! That is awesome. I am all in favour of un-canoning the things where she dies in the books. (Also the thing where Jo is divorced instead of happily married with seven children and twelve and a half grandchildren.) This does not make me less inclined to accept the books as generally canon, though, except where contradicted by other material. Obviously the Time War made a mess of the timelines of companions other than Sarah Jane Smith.
Given that at least one member of Unit seems to be in league with the space vultures, I'm wondering if it will turn out they only invited a few people who knew the Doctor on purpose. They might not know where to find a lot of them, but what about Yates and Benton and Martha, all of whom are former members? I can see the Doctor's enemies wanting just enough old companions to get the memories they needed without having so many they could effectively gang up. Of course, that plan is not going to work, but I guess they thought two middle-aged women and their teenage sidekicks wouldn't be that much of a threat. More fool them.
I am also surprised that Jo did not immediately jump to the conclusion that the Master was involved, which would be entirely logical given her adventures with the Doctor. Maybe they're saving that for next episode now that the man himself has arrived, though.

This is Jo we're talking about. She doesn't do "entirely logical". :)
