Date: 2009-08-28 01:45 pm (UTC)Oh, I did like this. I love the moments of glee, Tony shooting through the sky in his amazing flying rocket suit - half the thing with Iron Man for me is the tension between the awesome hi-jinks and the moral dubiousness of it all, you know? And I feel like you convey at least some of that in the vid. I really like that there's almost no people in this, too; we see more of Tony's robots than we do of Pepper or anyone else - I love the other characters in the film, don't get me wrong, but Tony's such a lonely guy, and he really does seem to deal better with machinery than people.
I really love what you do with the internal motion - I mean, that's always one of your strengths, but the bit at around 00:41 where the panels on the back of the suit are flickering just right, I loved that. And throwing the helmet aside at 01:45! The first cut to Tony's face and the HUD at 00:38 for "the corner of your lips"! Pepper belatedly covering her ears at 01:51! The scream on "soul" at 00:44! The hammering at 01:33 and after!
And the constant shots of Tony and Iron Man turning and tumbling and out-of-control / just barely in-control work really well with the song; elevation is the goal, but it's not safe and it's not straightforward. That's something I get from the song; it's about love, and how it's amazing and unpredictable and dangerous, and I think that actually all of that (including the love!) is totally appropriate for Tony and his relationship with the suit. It's a wild ride, but a heck of a lot of fun (and Tony's manic grin tells us he knows that too!). This vid left me with a real grin on my face, it's just so much fun :)
