Bored at work, so. A bunch of questions about my love of the Doctor.

1. When did you start watching?

That's a complicated question. I saw a few episodes as a child and was FRIGHTENED OUT OF MY TINY MIND, putting me off for years. I then watched An Unearthly Child in my teens and thought the show actually looked quite interesting. It wasn't until 2004 that I became a dedicated viewer, though.

1a. Why?

The ABC screened the entire classic series in order from the beginning, and once I had my own place with my own TV I started to catch up.

2. What was your first episode?

The first one I remember seeing is The Seeds of Doom, which rather explains why I was SCARRED FOR LIFE.

3. Which episodes have you seen?

Everything. Except the last episode of The Dominators, the missing bits of The Invasion and about half of the last episode of Arc of Infinity. (I have, of course, not seen anything the BBC set fire to before I was born, but I have listened to the missing episodes.)

3a. Favourite?

City of Death, closely followed by The Caves of Androzani and The Empty Child.

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?

Absolutely. My family have been watching longer than me, and as for my friends ... well, most of my friends are in fandom, and many of them love the Doctor.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?

I don't care if it's a cliche: Tom Baker.

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?

Jon Pertwee, but we're talking relative degrees of 'least favourite' here. I still love Three to bits, just slightly less than the other Doctors.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?

Romana. (Both of her!)

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?

Dodo. At least when I'm not watching The Gun Fighters.

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?

Avidly. I've still got a couple of dozen to go before I'm all caught up, though.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?

Spare Parts. And also The One Doctor.

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?

Evelyn Smythe, who rivals Romana for my favourite companion of all time.

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?

Yes. I am a sad, obsessive fangirl. As you may have noticed already.

10a. If so, which is your favourite?

BBV's Punchline is a real gem.

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?

Yes.

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?

... not so far. I admit it is a secret ambition of mine, though.

11b. Which is your favourite?

So far, Alien Bodies. Of the short stories, Continuity Errors.

12. Have you read any of the comics?

Yes.

12a. You guessed it - which is your favourite?

The Flood - a genius use of the Cybermen, and a fitting exit from the medium for Eight.

13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?

I do indeed.

13a. Which is your favourite?

That is a much harder question to answer now that Torchwood no longer sucks. I think SJA still wins on account of not sucking in its first season, though.

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?

I am steadily working my way through the books and audios, so I'll get to them all eventually. I am quite keen to get up to some of the later NAs and EDAs.

Fandom

1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?

I have been known to.

1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!

Sorry, they're all at home on my other hard drive.

2. Do you create Doctor Who icons?

Now and then.

2a. Let's see a sample!

There is one adorning this post.

3. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation!

[livejournal.com profile] calapine's What About Everything? is my favourite vid in the fandom.

4. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?

Not so far, alas.

5. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?

Not so far ...

6. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?

*contemplates action figures*

Uh, just a couple of things, yes.

7. Are you a fan of Russell T Davies?

Yes. Gridlock is my favourite. I blame the BASKET OF TINY KITTENS.

7a. Steven Moffat?

I have worshiped him since the Press Gang days.

7b. Paul Cornell?

I enjoyed Human Nature. Not so much Father's Day although I didn't hate it.

8. What say you to Season 6b?

It's the only logical explanation.

9. The UNIT dating controversy?

Caused by the Time War, obviously.

10. The Blinovitch Limitation effect?

Makes my brain dribble out my ears if I try to think about it.

11. Multi-Doctor episodes?

Yay! I want another one with Ten and Eight. And Nine, but I doubt he would agree.

12. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?

Timey-Wimey Detector.

13. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?

Not that I can recall off the top of my head.

14. Have you met any of the actors?

No, although I saw Sylvester McCoy from afar. He took his trousers off.

14a. Travelled to any filming locations?

No - what with them all being overseas and all.

15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death?

Six out of ten. The Master is brilliant in it, as is Joanna Lumley.

16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?

My love for Paradise Towers?

17. What's your favourite pairing?

Four/Romana. And also Doctor/Master.

18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?

Hmmm. Not a big fan of most Doctor/Rose, but I make the odd exception.

No, although I saw Sylvester McCoy from afar. He took his trousers off.

I was unaware that both McKellen and McCoy dropped trou.

I am in awe of your ability to hunt down almost all the episodes of a series like this.
