They should have just called this episode Slash!
I admit I raised an eyebrow when I found out Sylar/Mohinder was one of this fandom's big OTPs, but
selenak told me I would know why in time and, hey, now I do. It would be an awfully fucked up relationship, but they have undeniable and instantaneous chemistry the moment Mohinder sees 'Zane' standing in that doorway in his borrowed Ramones t-shirt. (I do wonder why Sylar wanted the awesome ability to melt appliances. Maybe he's just trying to collect the set *g*.) I would worry for Mohinder, but Sylar is unlikely to want to eat his brain. Perhaps his extreme prettiness will protect him from the psycho.
Back in Las Vegas, Ando once again proves that he has no idea about girls. I howled with laughter as he threw everything Hiro had ever said about quests and heroism back at him. I love the little guy, but after weeks of dragging Ando half way around the world he totally deserved to find out how it feels to be on the receiving end. Ando proves that he can be just as foolishly brave as his friend if given the right motivation. Meanwhile, Hiro gets pissy because his friend is chasing a girl, calls him 'Ando-kun' a lot and then gets locked in a closet. Awwwwwww. Don't worry, Hiro, I'm sure he'll realise that Hope is evil sooner or later. Probably.
In non-slashy plot developments, the universe really is out to get Matt when his first bodyguard job lands him in a fight with Jessica. He holds his own against her superstrength remarkably well but loses his assignment anyway. (That image of Aaron ripped in half was one of the most disturbing in the whole series.) I can hardly blame him for taking the diamonds; he's stealing from a dead man who has no futher use for them. I can't help but think he's going to end up in even more trouble, though ...
Claire is losing parents left, right and centre. Her mother offers her a quarter of the money she was given by Nathan and plans to go to Mexico. Nathan listens to his own mother and decides not to see his daughter (although he obviously wants to - I felt as bad for him as I did for Claire in those scenes.) Even more seriously, her mother's constant exposure to the Haitian's mindwipes seems to have caused her permanant damage. (You have to love a show whose writers expect the audience to know their BtVS. They're obviously riffing on the fan theory that Joyce's tumour was caused by the monks messing with her brain to insert Dawn into her memories.) I'm just itching to see the effec this will have on Mr. Bennet. Evil though he may be, he's devoted to his family.

I would worry for Mohinder, but Sylar is unlikely to want to eat his brain. Perhaps his extreme prettiness will protect him from the psycho.
Mohinder's extreme prettiness is the only explanation for his continued survival, for it sure ain't his brains, and he's just that much of a villain magnet. Though none of them get as attached as Sylar does!

It also continues his journey towards grey-ness....
Nathan listens to his own mother and decides not to see his daughter (although he obviously wants to - I felt as bad for him as I did for Claire in those scenes.)
Same here. Incidentally, I thought Nathan didn't make up his mind on the see/don't see matter until the last second, because Angela had advised not to go to Texas at all, and Meredith hadn't asked him to, either, she had just asked for the money. Also, he asks Meredith where Claire is once they started to talk, so he expected to see her. But then she's not there, and he can reconsider, and when Meredith offers to call her back he makes the "safe" decision... and I think he has a pretty good idea who threw that stone.
Even more seriously, her mother's constant exposure to the Haitian's mindwipes seems to have caused her permanant damage.
Meaning that if Claire continues to say nothing, it might get even worse. She's in a horrible, horrible situation right now.
