I Have A New Favourite Iron Man Film!

Well, I guess it could hypothetically be the afterglow talking, but I'm pretty sure that there are four things that made me love it more than the first two.
1. SUPER PEPPER!!! Both saving Tony with the suit and with her own super powers. As my friend said, how long until she becomes an Avenger?
2. Rhodey saving the President! And being generally awesome, in and out of his suit. And also an adorable dork. (WARMACHINEROX, indeed.)
3. Best. Mandarin. Ever. I can't tell you how happy I was to see the character used this way - he actually is an awful Yellow Peril stereotype dreamed up by a white dude! And called Trevor. Ben Kingsly stole every scene he was in, which is pretty impressive for anyone on screen with RDJ. Glorious.
4. SCIENCE BROS. All through the credits, the only thing I thought was missing from the film was a little nod to the Avengers - not the events of the film, which got mentioned, but the people who became Tony's team mates that day. Especially Bruce. And then the end happened, and it was perfect.
Other stuff that was great: all of Tony's interactions with the kid. Passing the Bechdel Test. Guy Pearce begging for a punch in the face, which he eventually got. Forty suits of armour. Tony ... being Tony.

I was a bit eyerolly at Rhodey's adventures in Pakistan, but I liked that the first people he went for got to laugh at his password, and that AIM used his American Saviour fantasies as bait.

It has to be a way of preventing that little explosion problem so it works as intended. At the very least, Pepper should have super healing. (Of course, if Tony invented that, medicine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would logically never be the same again. Superhero universes are good at ignoring technological breakthroughs, though.)

Yeah. I am impressed that someone seems to have actually thought about this in the intervening time.
I am ashamed to admit that one of my favourite things about the film so far is enjoying the delicious tears of fanboys complaining that the film 'ruined' the Mandarin. I vote that Marvel continue ruining any other terrible villains they have lying around.
