Day 19 – The Scene That Made Your Cry the Most

There's two that make me tear up every single time, not because they're sad but because they're so emotional. One is the end of The Curse of Fenric when Ace dives into the ocean and then gets out and walks away, dripping wet, arm around the Doctor, cleansed of Fenric at last. The other is in Gridlock when the roof opens and the sun shines on the BASKET OF TINY KITTENS and they look up at the big light in the sky that they've never seen before.

There are a couple of others from Season Five that may join that list - I haven't been able to rewatch Vincent and the Doctor yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's something that sets me off reliably. The other is the tale of Rory the Centurion. I am bewildered that there are people who found Season Five emotionally uninvolving when it had things like that in it.

Rory the Centurion broke me, in the best way.

Someone on Gallifrey Base put it like this. "Amy's boys: one is the man of her dreams, a hero of impossible bravery who's older than he looks and whose exploits are the stuff of legends. The other one is the Doctor."

Awwwww. That's so perfect. I think I love Rory all the more for being in the best tradition of Who companions -- the ordinary bloke, a staff nurse from Leadworth who ends up doing something epic.
