I'm really hopeful for Paterson Joseph - I think he'd be excellent. And just that little bit older than David Tennant would be good. Gravitas is such a good way to describe it. Time for a bit more gravitas in the TARDIS.
I think we've had about all the youthful hyperactivity we can stand for the moment, so it must be time for a change of pace *g*.
Rhys Ifans would probably be a very Tom Baker type doctor, based on what I saw in Notting Hill. I don't know, I don't think he's very likely, for some reason.
Poking around the internet, there were a lot of rumours about Ifans back in 2007, but it seems to have cooled off since then. Since the same stories were claiming that Joanna Lumley was to play the Doctor in one of the 2009 specials, I think we can probably disregard them ...
