I have not talked about it here before, but I have been enjoying JJ's new show Fringe this season. If you like The X-Files and Alias and can tolerate comic book levels of Skience (it has approximately 1000% more WTF than normal Hollywood Skience) I would recommend checking it out.

This is the first time a JJ Abrams show has managed to interest me even slightly in what is clearly meant to be the central het pairing - I like both Olivia and Peter as individuals, and their relationship is developing at a sensible pace. It will surprise no-one to learn that it's Walter Bishop who's truly won my heart, though. Like many Fringe fans, I think I could happily spend forty minutes or so each week just watching him do Skience and babble inanely about pudding, cotton candy, Christmas carols, or whatever else is on his brain. Of course, I am glad that the rest of the cast is around, if only because his relationship with Peter is so fascinating. Also was delighted to see him interact with Broyles in the previous episode - they fail to get along in all sorts of interesting ways.

I think this week was my favourite so far. We got to meet the fellow mad scientist Walter was having prison mental institution sex with! (OK, maybe the writers did not mean it that way, but while Walter displays all kinds of inappropriate behaviour, he has not previously put a hand on another guy's thigh. Or cupped his face in his hands, or held him while he cried.) It was sweet, in a crazy old scientist dudes way.

JJ's shows have fun slash pairings. I have no doubt that he will have a good time with Star Trek.

Does it have more Hollywood Skience than Heroes?

I did want to watch Fringe, but Lost bugged me so damn much. It became very obvious very early on that it was very X-Files-ish in the way that the writers were pretending that there was this whole big storyline planned out in minute detail, when in reality, they were making it up as they went along.

Walter Bishop is made of win - he's the reason that I've kept watching, despite the 1000% more skience which does get to me a little bit.

Aussie actors are blitzing the sci-fi shows this year - Chuck, True Blood and Fringe.

It seems I would love Walter Bishop, too. ^^

Oooh, which episode it is ? Can someone begin by this one, or have you to catch up the main storyline / the characterization before ?

There's a group of us that download and watch it together all while merrily mocking it on IRC chat, and you're more than welcome to join us. We're also routing for Walter (who has been nicknamed Denethorazine).
