And the thing about Claire's age is that she was retconned from 17/18 down to 15/16--I have no idea why.
Weeeird. Perhaps it was the fan reaction, i.e. folks shipping Peter/Claire, and the writers (due to their superior knowledge of RELATEDNESS!) going for what they considered damage control.
