The whole film and the whole future history of the planet turns around Raven's actions. And on Charles deciding to trust her and let her make the right choice.
I loved this, SO much. Especially since how Charles dealt with Raven was a major portion of why I wanted to whack him upside the head repeatedly in 1st Class. I also wonder how much of an effect it had on how Charles handled things in later years, especially considering that Jean is still alive at the end. Did he teach her to control her powers rather than repress them because of his experiences with Raven, perhaps? And of course forewarning from reading Logan's mind.

Same. I just loved it to bits. Such a great scene, both for Charles to be inspired and to see what he has to grow into. I also love that Logan is self-aware and smart enough to realize that's what young!Charles really needs.
Were it only possible, it might have been better to just send Erik back in time to punch himself in the face a few dozen times.
Agreed, 100%. Because he is SUCH a failboat as a young man. And actually, having just rewatched X1-3 (all right, I just skimmed that last one because UGH), he's STILL a failboat as an older man. So it takes him a really long time to get it pounded into his head that he just shouldn't follow any of his own bright ideas. At least, not without consulting with Charles, first. What the hell, Erik.
And like you, I love that so many characters are back, including Jean and Scott, and am fascinated by what happened to cause all that. I expect to see some fanfiction authors getting on that ASAP.
