I definitely got a Godfather II vibe from that scene, too. :) And yes, I think Mr. Gold would have watched the Godfather movies.
Astro reminded me that Jefferson actually was originally from the Enchanted Forest before getting stranded in Wonderland, but I suppose given he used to travel freely between realms, his daughter could have been born anywhere...
re: Hook, agreed, and btw, that would mean the unethical king whom he served before becoming a pirate was from there as well.
