I have been a hopeless Moffat fangirl since I made my father go out and borrow a VCR [1] so that we could tape Day Dreams, because I had a ballet recital and couldn't bear to miss the end of my favourite show. So I can only dance the dance of joy at the news he is taking over Doctor Who from 2010 on!

This is not to say that I have not enjoyed RTD's stewardship of the series; I will always be grateful to him as the man who brought the show back and made the Master dance around the room to I Can't Decide. However, I also think that four seasons + specials is long enough for any era to last.

As someone who has adored both Press Gang and Coupling, I look forward to seeing what Moffat will bring to the show. (I've not seen Jekyll, so cannot comment on that.) We can has Jack Davenport?

In Jekyll, James Nesbitt throws a lion at Paterson Joseph. And then sings 'The lion sleeps tonight' to him. All of which left me sitting there just staring at the screen in disbelief at the level of sheer awesome.

Oh, I am SO GLAD to see someone on my flist excited about this! Other fans have posted of boycotting, or being convinced that it can never be as good.

But if you look at the series to date, Moffat's episodes have been the BEST. More than that, we know what he can do with a series he's in charge of.

I think it helps that, as a classic series fan, I am used to the idea of Doctor Who having regular changes in production staff *g*. We wouldn't want Rusty to end up like John Nathan Turner, who stayed way too long.

But if you look at the series to date, Moffat's episodes have been the BEST. More than that, we know what he can do with a series he's in charge of.

Exactly! While there are other talented, Who-savy writers on the staff, none of them half as much experience running shows as Moffat does.

I would definitely approve of that. I wonder if he's too high profile after the Pirates movies, but being the Doctor is a pretty high profile job these days.
