I have been a hopeless Moffat fangirl since I made my father go out and borrow a VCR [1] so that we could tape Day Dreams, because I had a ballet recital and couldn't bear to miss the end of my favourite show. So I can only dance the dance of joy at the news he is taking over Doctor Who from 2010 on!
This is not to say that I have not enjoyed RTD's stewardship of the series; I will always be grateful to him as the man who brought the show back and made the Master dance around the room to I Can't Decide. However, I also think that four seasons + specials is long enough for any era to last.
As someone who has adored both Press Gang and Coupling, I look forward to seeing what Moffat will bring to the show. (I've not seen Jekyll, so cannot comment on that.) We can has Jack Davenport?
[1] We did not get one until I was sixteen. Yes, mine was a deprived childhood ...

I am so very, very happy about this!

Date: 2008-05-24 01:35 pm (UTC)I think it helps that, as a classic series fan, I am used to the idea of Doctor Who having regular changes in production staff *g*. We wouldn't want Rusty to end up like John Nathan Turner, who stayed way too long.

Exactly! While there are other talented, Who-savy writers on the staff, none of them half as much experience running shows as Moffat does.
