I have finished a new vid for the first time in three years!
... which the rest of you can see in two months or so, after it's shown at Vividcon. As of now it is all squared away so all I have to do is wait. Unless the con people e-mail me to say that the upload is borked or something, but even then, I've got more than twenty-four hours grace before the actual deadline for the first time ever.
(It says something about my previous experiences submitting to Vividcon that I was relieved when I woke up this morning to find that Premiere was insisting that a dozen clips I'd been using all week were suddenly UNACCEPTABLE and needed to be imported again with their audio removed. In some previous years I've had to remake entire vids or do my export in ten-second chunks, so having to remake 10% of a project was painless by comparison. And I have finally stopped waiting for the other shoe to drop.)
I am sad that this is the last Vividcon, but at least I managed to get my rig back together in time to make one more thing for it. I always dreamed I would get to actually go to the con one day, but I will just have to continue stalking attendees on social media to find out if anyone liked it. (Well, it's worked before.) In a nice bit of symmetry, it's my twentieth vid, in the same fandom as my first vid.
I guess I will have to find a new motivation for actually finishing projects from this point on. Maybe I should finally start making treats for Festivids? (I mean, I guess I could sign up, but the one previous occasion when I made a vid on assignment went horribly and was one of the worst experiences of my fannish life, so I'm a bit gun shy.)
Of course, I still have seven more that need remastering. Maybe I will actually be able to bring myself to remake Be My Hero now I have all this X-Men footage on my machine. I lost partially finished versions of Brothers in Arms and Bicycle Race when my vidding rig died last year, so I think it'll be a while before I can bring myself to face either of those again. And at this point I might as well wait for one more new Doctor, anyway.
