Noted for the record ...

1. I am playing Pokémon Crystal for the first time because forking over $13 AUS and playing an entire Pokémon game with two regions and sixteen badges to collect seems like the most sensible way to get the Marvelscale Lugia I want. (Look, there are months before Sword&Shield come out and I've decided that Let's Go doesn't really look like my thing even if I had a Switch already.)

2. I started playing with Gen IV and I was not prepared for all the stuff that isn't there in the early versions. (I have no nostalgia for the GameBoy since I never had one.) I miss Natures and Abilities and the Physical/Special split. I can't even figure out how to reorder a moveset!

3. Whitney's Miltank is still a demon in cow form, spawned from the depths of Hell. I thought maybe I had so much trouble with it in SoulSilver because it was my first Pokémon game and I had no idea what I was doing. But no! It really is that bad.

4. After it beat my carefully trained team twice, I spent two hours catching a Pineco with Self-Destruct and blew it up.

5. This was a proportionate and sensible response to the situation.

Hahahaha, I've never played Pokemon, but I know that feeling! XD

I think anyone who has ever had trouble with a video game boss fight has been there at some point. Blowing it up was very satisfying.

It is so weird for me, as someone who played SoulSilver first. Everything is like I remember it and yet nothing is!

I started playing with Blue/Red(/Yellow), followed by Gold/Silver when they were released, so Crystal holds a lot of nostalgia for me. It was the first time you had the choice of choosing your character's gender!

I was debating whether I should get Silver or Crystal on the virtual console, and then I realised that I could not be a girl in Silver. I had never even thought about that not being an option!
