Oh yes. I answered the main public affairs line for Suddenly Sprockets! for four years. I got fewer random calls than someone working in, say, customer service for a phone company or whatever, but I still got quite a few.

My boss gave me explicit permission to hang up on anyone who a) cursed at me or b) threatened me. I could simply HANG UP. I only did it two or three times but knowing I could made it easier to deal with people.

I always loved when people got mad at me because they'd called the wrong office and I wanted to transfer them.
