Thanks for a very amusing review of an episode I haven't seen in a long time. Makes me very nostalgic.

I am amazed that TNG is twenty years old this year! Not that I saw it back in 1987, what with not being allowed to stay up that late, but still.

(And to speak in mild defense of this pilot ep., the FX were more impressive in 1987, and it was brave to try to seek out costume continuity with the original series miniskirts. Doomed--but brave.)

I'm sure the Enterprise docking was more scintillating at the time *g*. I was boggled to note that there's a male extra wearing a miniskirt in one scene. Which is both progressive and utterly ridiculous.

(Men in tunics: yes. Men in kilts: yay! Men in Star Fleet issue miniskirts ... um, no.)
