a. I first got interested in Magneto because of X-Men: The Animated Series. He was hot and had the world's sexist voice *g*. When I eventually got around to writing fanfic six years later, naturally he was going to show up.
b. His determination to protect mutantkind.
c. His belief that the ends justify the means, which leads to a tendency to behave exactly like the people he opposes.
d. I find it much, much easier to write Erik from an outside perspective than I do to get inside his head. I think I've gotten better at writing him over the years.
e. For a story that's actually about Magneto and from his POV, Next of Kin.
f. I will always come back to X-Men fandom, and when I do I'll end up writing Magneto.
